BEAUTIFUL OHIO

Re-imagined.  A vintage four drawer chest was rescued from its dismally dirty castaway condition at the local antique mart.  Now sporting four decades of license plates from my beautiful home state (check out the city maps on the knobs!!), it has been reincarnated in living color.

After giving the oak chest of drawers a good cleaning and a quick repair of the drawer supports, I gave it a gentle sanding and a new coat of stain. Each drawer was painted with a semi-gloss enamel to match its corresponding paint and then stenciled over in antique white using four different but complimentary stencils.  To give it that vintage look, the drawers were wiped with the same stain used on the chest, then immediately wiped off.

License plates were adhered with a few dabs of Loctite adhesive and then bordered with picture frame moulding, mitered at the corners and painted to match the drawers.

The old drawer knobs were upcycled, too.  Taking an old Ohio road map, I cut circles around each of our 8 major cities to just fit the knob face.  Some spray adhesive to affix them and several coats of Triple Thick added the finishing touch.

Now, all I need is to find a good home for it.  Any takers?  Check out my Etsy store in the next few days for the listing.  http://www.etsy.com/shop/NancyBenkoDesigns
